Bio

-John Small is a Canadian artist whose work examines cultural influences and their affects, in relation to being an adopted child. The visual compositions John creates examine notions of ambiguity and confusion associated with the unknown as it relates to his adopted background. Early in John’s artistic career he began to use and manipulate many media processes to create his paintings. Techniques such as Silkscreening and Collage have become important components in his eclectic diverse image making. Every aspect of John’s paintings are well thought out and detailed; which give rise to the theme of the painting that not only highlights the central character, but also create a cohesive and visually intriguing background.
